Talking Old school testing!! 3D Mark 99Max...

Well since I've been using Windows 98 and old hardware, I thought I'd crack out some old benchmarks

Here's a few results from some of the hardware I've got laying about the place here
Anyone that would like to join me for a giggle, please let me know and I'll be able to send the fixed DLL file

Tbird 850 + 1Gb + Geforce 2 MX

XP2600 + 1Gb + Geforce 4 Ti 4200

AMD 64 4000+ + 1Gb + Geforce 8800GT

Anyone else game for a laugh??

Umm, I'll see if I can find a fix for this one mate I know its around somewhere

http://futuremark.yougamers.com/foru...read.php?t=102

http://futuremark.yougamers.com/foru...d.php?t=118638

Failing if they dont work, I'll try and send you it Could you show me where it fails mate? I think you might need to run it as a Windows 98 compatiblity or something....

Bit more information further down the thread:

Mine runs fine on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Here is what you need to do for it to run.
Download this app here:
http://legroom.net/scripts/download....e=uniextract16

After installing the app, right click the 3dmax 99.exe and select UniExtract to Subdir. You will then have the setup folder. Right click the setup.exe choose compatibility mode and choose win 95, {win 98/me, should work also} for that, apply and save. Then launch the setup and it will then install.

Next browse or search for ddraw.dll, in my case i took the one from here, since i am on 64bit os.
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ddraw

Now take that ddraw.dll and copy/paste it to the 3dmax 99 folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\3DMark 99 Max

Now create a desktop shortcut with the "3dmark 99 max" exe. Now after that right click the .exe and choose compatibility mode win 98/me and hit apply and now you will be able to run the benchmark on windows 7.

There should be a fix for it Nick, I'd just have a quick look as I know a few people have run 3D Mark 99Max on Windows 7

I got it to work mate!! The ddraw.dll file search your PC for (as its 64Bit that's what's screwing it up) so just replace it in the program folder and try and run the bench
You should end up with something like this mate

I was dead impressed
